Being a fashion lover and especially dating one might not be as simple as you think. It may not be one of the biggest challenges to face as a single in 2017 but it sure isn’t a walk in a park. No one said it will be easy, but as a fashion blogger, I’m here to help you understand us and give you a quick lesson and tips to connect with a fashion lover.
The first question is, how do you find one? You might find a lot of amazing girls on social media, but the likelihood of you ‘sliding’ in their DM is minimal. If you’re looking for a shortcut, make sure to check out Badoo. The largest dating app in the world, it’s huge so everyone is guaranteed to find someone for them. I love the fact that you can check out people’s instagram, facebook or twitter to make sure you don’t get any surprises.
If you’re lucky enough (I guess?) to find a girl that’s indulged in the fashion world and you are trying to impress her, make sure to try out some of the tips below!
P.s. All of the tips are based on my personal experience and tips from my fellow fashion lovers:
1. Take her to instagramable places.
That’s extra points for you and new instagram feed for her. She won’t only be impressed with the scenery, but you may also have a chance for cute picture together on your first date.
2. Sign up for photography course.
If she’s a fashion blogger/loves social media your photography skills will me more valuable than Economy degree, graduating from Oxford or speaking 10 foreign languages.
3. Be yourself.
You don’t have to change your style, enjoy wearing your favourite jeans and black top, until she will start throwing the clothes out of your wardrobe and doing a makeover. (FYI it starts with “hey, I think that skull t-shirt needs to go ”)
4. Be on stand-by for sales.
Be prepare to visit shops on Boxing day, mid season sale, sample sale or even rumours about sales. You are going to spend half of your date in the queue to get the product of her dreams. ( or another necessary pair of shoes at half price )
5. Forgive her mobile addiction
Get used to the fact that she may spend annoying amount of time on her phone. Checking out latest news, instagram, gossips and twitter. Yes, she has to stay connected with the world 24/7 and try to understand it. It’s addiction.
6. Patience is a virtue
She may start changing her outfit five minutes before you go and spend another hour staring in the mirror to make sure everything looks perfect. You will get used to it after 5th time.
1. Never criticise her outfit.
If she’s asking for your opinion, it doesn’t mean you have to be 100% honest. Learn the art of ‘compliment sandwich’.
2. Don’t buy her any clothes/ accessories as a gift.
Unless you doing it with her or you know exactly what she wants! It’s a great gesture, but risky and most likely she will say: “it’s beautiful!” and throw it to the bottom of her closet. Just stick to classic, romantic choices like chocolates, wine or flowers
3, Don’t undermine her passion.
Never let her feel that what she’s doing is not important (or stupid) and you don’t care about fashion, she won’t take it easy. Just remind yourself a scene from Devil’s wear Prada when Andy said she can’t see the difference between two belts? Yes, you will be Andy and she will be Miranda.
4. Don’t call or message her over Fashion Week period.
That’s brutal, but it will feel like you are single. She will be too busy to catch up with all fashion shows, events and latest news, so sorry not sorry, but is nothing you can do.
5. Never complement other girls’ outfits.
You didn’t say anything nice about her look, but when she asked you about some girl from instagram you said it’s nice? That was a trap. You may as well pack your bag and take a long ride out of the town.
6. Don’t mention anything about her hat.
You might shake your head every time she puts her crazy hat on but there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s fashion baby!
